A Warm and Artful Wedding at Gladstone House

A modern yet timeless celebration at Gladstone House, captured in true colour and true emotion.

Britt and Quinton celebrated their wedding on November 30, 2024, at the iconic Gladstone House, a boutique hotel in downtown Toronto known for its creative energy and historic charm. As both their planner and Brittany’s cousin, it was an especially meaningful honour to help bring their day to life.

From the beginning, Britt envisioned a wedding that felt warm, cozy, and deeply connected to the character of the Gladstone Ballroom, the space that hosted both their ceremony and reception. Embracing the room’s exposed red brick and hardwood floors, we chose a palette of reds, corals, amber tones, and golds to create a layered, inviting glow.

The tablescape was thoughtfully designed to complement, not compete with, the space. Minimalist cotton-coloured charger plates and soft ivory linens featuring a subtle rusty-red etched pattern, amber-coloured glassware and dining chairs all from Element Event Solutions, created a perfect foundation.

I also had the pleasure of designing all of their stationery, from their fun, patterned invitation suite to the signage and table details that tied the design story together across each space.

Florals by FlowerRzy elevated the design even further. Rosalie's sculptural, art-forward style brought a modern yet timeless feel to the arrangements, adding depth, texture, and a sense of quiet drama to the room.

During cocktail hour in the Gladstone Café and Bar, guests enjoyed drinks and conversation while our team transitioned the ballroom from ceremony to reception. The space, as described on the hotel’s website, features neutral hardwood floors, restored exposed brick walls, modern chandeliers, and large picture windows that welcome in natural light - a perfect canvas for the warm, romantic atmosphere we created.

One of the greatest decisions Britt and Quinton made was choosing Barb Simkova as their photographer. Barb is one of my favourite Toronto wedding photographers for her ability to capture moments exactly as they felt: true-to-life colours, honest emotions, and the atmosphere of the day without artifice. Looking through their gallery feels like reliving the wedding exactly as it unfolded: the warmth of the palette, the joy, the quieter emotional beats, all preserved with intention and clarity.

Britt and Q are two of the most generous, warm-hearted people - both with their time and their energy. Being alongside them throughout the planning process and on the wedding day was truly a gift. Their celebration was filled with every emotion: joyful tears, meaningful remembrance for loved ones no longer with us, laughter that echoed through the room, and cheers that carried late into the night. It was the kind of day that reminds you exactly why weddings matter.
