A Design-Forward Harding Waterfront Estate Wedding

There’s something especially meaningful about planning a wedding for a couple who first experienced your work as guests. Rebecca and Tim attended a Harding Waterfront Estate wedding I planned the year prior, so when they reached out to plan their own wedding at the same venue, it felt like a full-circle moment, and truly such an honour.

Their October 24, 2025 wedding at Harding Waterfront Estate was a masterclass in thoughtful restraint, layered pattern, and intentional colour. From the moment they shared their initial vision of soft blue and white, they were completely open to my guidance on expanding the palette and pushing the design just enough to feel elevated, unique and unexpected.

Expanding the Colour Palette with Intention

While light blue and white formed the foundation, we built depth by introducing cappuccino brown, teal, terracotta, and subtle hints of dark green. The result was a palette that felt warm and autumnal without leaning too seasonal - perfect for a late October wedding on the waterfront.

Rather than overwhelming the space, each colour had a role. Teal anchored the graphic elements, terracotta warmed the stationery details, and cappuccino brown grounded the overall design, allowing the softer blues to feel intentional rather than overly sweet.

Pattern Mixing Done Thoughtfully

Rebecca and Tim were completely open to pattern which is a dream for any designer. We layered soft stripes, organic florals, and geometric squares, using teal tones throughout to maintain cohesion and ensure a seamless visual transition between elements.

The custom geometric dance floor vinyl became the anchor of the reception space, visually grounding the room and setting the tone for the entire design. Pattern mixing can easily feel chaotic, but when done thoughtfully, it creates rhythm and movement, especially in a space as naturally elegant as Harding Waterfront Estate.

I was ridiculously excited to see all of the patterns come together, particularly once the room was fully set. This is where I always come back to my design philosophy: it’s not about more being more - it’s about doing things exceptionally well. When design elements are executed at a high level, they create impact without visual clutter.

Florals as Art at Harding Waterfront Estate

Toronto wedding florist Rosalie Villanueva took our design direction and elevated it beyond expectation. Each floral arrangement felt like a sculptural piece of art—intentional, organic, and beautifully composed.

The ceremony at Harding Waterfront Estate requires very little enhancement. The grounds feel tucked away from the world, offering a quiet, almost secret-garden quality that’s rare for a Toronto waterfront wedding venue. We allowed the setting to speak for itself, framing the ceremony with florals that enhanced rather than competed with the natural surroundings.

To maximize impact, ceremony arrangements were repurposed for the ends of the VIP tables during the reception. Repurposing ceremony florals in a way that feels natural is a strategy I often use to create cohesion while being mindful of both budget and sustainability.

Stationery That Subtly Set the Tone

Amber from All That’s Lovely ran with our inspiration beautifully. The invitation suite featured soft blue envelopes, ivory paper, and a mix of teal and terracotta inks, creating a subtle colour-blocked effect that hinted at the design story without revealing everything at once.

While bows and ribbons have been trending, I always prefer a more nuanced approach. We incorporated a romantic bow line drawing throughout the stationery, from invitations to wedding day paper goods, as a gentle nod to the trend rather than an overt statement. The result felt timeless, refined, and perfectly aligned with Rebecca and Tim’s aesthetic.

A Reception Layout with Impact

Instead of a traditional head table, Rebecca and Tim opted for two long VIP tables flanking the dance floor. This layout choice made a huge visual statement, especially against the bold geometry of the dance floor vinyl, and encouraged a more communal, celebratory atmosphere.

The symmetry of the tables, paired with layered patterns and sculptural florals, created a reception design that felt intentional from every angle, one of the many reasons Harding Waterfront Estate weddings photograph so beautifully.

Why Harding Waterfront Estate Is One of Toronto’s Most Unique Wedding Venues

Harding Waterfront Estate remains one of the most distinctive wedding venues in the Toronto area. With its lakefront views, lush grounds, and on-site tent, it offers couples the rare combination of privacy, flexibility, and natural beauty.

For Rebecca and Tim, it was the perfect canvas for a wedding that balanced softness with structure, tradition with creativity, and design-forward thinking with genuine warmth.

This wedding will stay with me for a long time. Not just because of the design, but because of the trust Rebecca and Tim placed in the process. When couples are open, collaborative, and excited to explore ideas together, the result is always something truly special.

With that, I invite you to experience their Harding Waterfront Estate wedding below, beautifully captured by Alix Gould.

100th Birthday Celebration in Oakville, Ontario

My grandmother-in-law reached her 100th birthday in July of last year and as a family, we came together to celebrate her with a beautiful dinner! Her kids, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were all in attendance which made for a love-filled afternoon. To know Hazel is a very special thing. She is sweet, thoughtful, cheerful and leaves a lasting impression on everyone she meets. I can say with certainty that she is very much loved even by those who have only met her once.

A local favourite, Special Event Rentals, provided all of the linens, plates, glassware, and chairs, and my brother-in-law, a wonderful chef, prepared a delicious dinner.

A backyard celebration wouldn’t have been the same without the typical weather challenges and right as we had the last glass set, a quick furious rainstorm was on the horizon which meant we had to quickly take it all down and reset after it had moved through! What a journey.

A huge thank you to Kevin at Morning Light Photography for capturing all the details and some incredible family portraits! We’re very grateful for all of those who made the day wonderful for our beautiful Hazel!

A Romantic Harding Waterfront Estate Wedding

Harding Waterfront Estate has flown a bit under the radar until the last few years when it’s making a name for itself as a great Toronto wedding venue. It’s one of only a few wedding venues with tent reception options on site which makes it an incredibly unique option.

It’s located a short drive from Toronto right on the Mississauga - Oakville border. It features a gorgeous 50 ft x 70 ft glass pavilion (3500 sq. ft) which can accommodate up to 240 guests for a seated wedding reception and a standing capacity of 500. The vaulted ceilings are a soaring 18’ high, draped in sheer fabric and adorned with 6 dimmable crystal chandeliers. Air conditioning and heating are available seasonally which is rare to find in these types of event spaces.

The grounds are immaculate with lush gardens all around. The outdoor ceremony space overlooks Joshua’s Creek and Lake Ontario is visible from the rear terrace of the estate’s main building, Bell-Gairdner House.

The flexibility within the rental period of the wedding day also lends itself well to getting ready on-site and photos on the property.

Private Estate Tent Spring Bridal Shower in burlington, ontario

Lianne’s gorgeous bridal shower took place in June of 2022 under a tent in her parent’s beautiful backyard in Burlington, Ontario. Spring weather can change on a dime and will pose extra challenges for outdoor events so planning accordingly is key. We certainly lucked out with the most gorgeous weather and ran into just a little rain for about 5 minutes; thank you, Weather Gods!

Also, can you even believe we ended up in the most perfect location with the tent perfectly sitting atop the beautiful artificial grass? It made for the most incredible base for an outdoor setting.

We’ll let the images speak for themselves with all the gorgeous details from some incredible local vendors.

Photographed by Robin Sassi, tent and rentals from Special Event Rentals, florals by Sue Gallo Designs, stationery by Statue Rue, cake from Cake and Kale, and catering from Gourmet Chef at Your Table, this day truly is one of our favourites!

The Pearle Hotel and Spa, Upscale Burlington Wedding Venue

When I first found out that Pearle Hospitality was opening their latest venue, The Pearle Hotel and Spa, I think my jaw dropped to the floor. Burlington has been in desperate need of a high-end hotel and an upscale event space that can hold larger guest counts. Knowing Pearle (who owns Spencers at the Waterfront and Elora Mill just to name a few), the new hotel wasn’t going to fall short of being anything but an incredible experience.

There’s going to be a Hammam Spa and an indoor pool. The restaurant, Isabelle, offers a dining experience that highlights the locality, seasonality, and freshness of Ontario produce with much of it grown at their very own Earth to Table Farm. Its incredible waterfront patio will be perfect for a summer lunch or dinner under the stars. Designed by Studio Munge, check out some of the incredible renderings by them below!

There are two event spaces, both designed with neutral, but high-end decor, meaning there’s no worry of needing to cover up an unsightly wall or fight with an ugly carpet in your design; you just need to add your own personal touches to make the space unique to you. You’ve heard me talk before about my favourite Toronto wedding venues offering epic design and culinary experiences, and The Pearl Hotel and Spa will be nothing short of that.

The Edgewater Room

The Edgewater Room can host larger groups of up to 350 guests. Enjoy the use of the entire floor and private ceremony space. This beautiful room offers a fresh neutral décor with 16-foot ceilings and a south-facing view of the waterfront.

The Northshore Room

For more intimate weddings of up to 170 guests has 14-foot ceilings and a west-facing view of Lake Ontario, this room offers fresh and neutral tones with bronze accents, perfect for bringing any vision to life.

THE PEARLE HOTEL AND SPA WEDDING PHOTOS

I was asked last summer to participate in a photoshoot on the property to help showcase the incredible views The Pearle Hotel and Spa has to offer from the event spaces. Even though it was still very much a construction zone, we made something beautiful. Check out some of the images from the shoot below.

Harding Waterfront Estate Wedding | Oakville Wedding Venue

Oh, my heart. Laura and Dan's colourful Harding Waterfront Estate wedding will forever be in my memory as a wonderful day. These two and their families had so much love for one another. It was such a beautiful celebration that was so graceful from beginning to end. Laura and Dan made the extra effort to include both of their families in all of the planning and crafting fun (everything from those cute glitter table numbers to the ceremony arch and pedestals!) and it did not go unnoticed. Sometimes being so hands on with the wedding planning, families have a hard time relaxing on the day. But not these guys! Every single person was relaxed and comfortable right from the first sips of coffee in the morning to when we left them when they were dancing away under the stars. They left their planning hats at the rehearsal, knowing they were in good hands with us! Ashley Elaine Florals nailed it with the bright, playful pink palette, making it feel mature and crush-worthy! Jennifer See Studios captured the entire day and colours so brilliantly and Evolved Entertainment kept everybody on the dance floor busting a move right until the last note was played. The Harding Waterfront Estate is a gorgeous outdoor tented wedding venue with exclusive access to the stunning historic mansion a short distance away from the heart of beautiful downtown Oakville. Thank you, Laura and Dan for entrusting us with such a special day in your lives. It was such an honour to be alongside as you celebrated your wedding in a beautiful way. Please enjoy these captures by Jennifer See Studios of their stunning Harding Waterfront Estate wedding.

Horse Farm Wedding in Burlington, Ontario

Taylor and Brad came up from Ohio to celebrate their big day on her uncle's horse farm here in Ontario. The estate had a special place in Taylor's heart and right from the moment we met I knew I wanted to be involved. I then fell in love with the stunning countryside estate and I knew this horse farm wedding was going to be one full of love! Planning a tent wedding is difficult enough but doing so from out of town creates an added level of complexity. I was happy to help them with both the planning and styling of the event. It was important to Taylor that the beautiful landscape be the focal point so we were careful to pull inspiration from our surroundings.

THE DESIGN

We used wood harvest tables for the head table and buffet tables to relax the beautiful champagne linens used to dress up the guest tables. Each centerpiece was carefully assembled by Ashley Elaine Florals in heirloom trophies won by the family's horses over the years. Using a bright palette in shades of pinks and greens, we anchored it all with a deep raspberry colour. Brad handmade the table numbers out of horseshoes as a subtle nod to the beautiful animals that mean so much to Taylor.

THE FOOD

Jake's Grillhouse handled the catering and oh my goodness, it was yummy! During cocktail hour canapes were passed while oysters were shucked in front of guests at the beautifully prepared oyster bar. As for dinner, we wanted to be mindful of budget and the relaxed outdoor environment so we opted for buffet style. Buffet tends to get a bad rap, but the longer it has to sit the better the flavours get! Is also allows for more flexibility in terms of timing with speeches and event flow.
